Table of Contents

Finally, the wait is over! Samsung Galaxy S24 series is here. The anticipation has been building up for long. On Instagram, we saw the golden box-like structure revolving, which said “Samsung Galaxy AI” and was coming soon; no one knew what would be inside that box. Finally, the box opened, and we have Samsung Galaxy AI S24 Series with a better camera, processor, and, of course, the extensive Capabilities of AI.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series

This blog will cover everything about the Samsung Galaxy S24, Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Price, features, and Technical specifications you are curious to know about.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series: Software

With most major Android phones now running on One UI 6, introducing One UI 6.1 on these three devices is noteworthy. Built on Android 14, One UI 6.1 introduces a significant focus on the launch of Galaxy AI. Even more impressive is Samsung’s announcement of a new software policy, aligning with Google’s commitment to seven years of upgrades initially introduced with the Pixel 8. This means that the Galaxy S24 lineup is set to receive software updates through 2031, an impressive and commendable commitment.

The array of AI features incorporated into these phones is extensive and challenging to keep up with. Notable features include Live Translate, which enables phone calls with individuals speaking different native languages. An early testing phase appears promising, though further exploration is needed for a final assessment.

Some of Samsung’s features target functionalities found directly on the Pixel lineup. Interpreter, for instance, facilitates translated conversations with a split-screen view.

Chat Assist, integrated into Samsung’s keyboard, aids in capturing the right tone, reminiscent of the Pixel 8’s Magic Compose.

Note Assist in Samsung Notes helps organize drawings and doodles, while Transcript Assist serves as a Recorder alternative, positioning the S24 Ultra as an appealing choice for aspiring journalists.

A new collaboration between Samsung and Google introduces Circle to Search, which is initially available on the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 8 series. This feature allows users to activate a quick shortcut from the navigation bar, highlighting any item on the phone and providing immediate context. This appears to be a powerful—albeit non-exclusive—tool from addresses to photos.

The longevity and adoption of these features as essential methods of interacting with smartphones are yet to be determined. However, AI takes center stage for Samsung in technological advancements this year.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series: Features

As anticipated, the Galaxy S24 series is set to exhibit increased power and enhanced capabilities across various aspects in contrast to its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 series. However, there will be a significant overlap between the two series, encompassing certain specifications and various design elements. Below, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of all the noteworthy additions!

The camera configuration of the Galaxy S24 Ultra undergoes a significant transformation within the series. A notable enhancement in 2024 is the introduction of a new 50MP periscope telephoto lens.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Camera Performance

The Galaxy S23 Ultra featured an impressive 200MP primary camera, and the S24 Ultra is continuing in its footsteps. Enhanced processing, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), along with larger pixels on the primary sensor, are expected to improve low-light performance and motion support.

However, the most significant alteration comes to the telephoto lens; on paper, it may not necessarily be an improvement. Samsung has replaced the 10x 10MP lens from the previous year with a larger 50MP 5x optical zoom lens. Although it still offers a 100x digital zoom, comprehensive testing will be required to assess how the two generations compare.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ undergo fewer changes, with the hardware remaining relatively consistent year over year. Nevertheless, enhanced processing has the potential to improve the performance of these lenses significantly, so the actual outcomes will become clearer once the phones are in our hands.

As anticipated, AI has also made its way to the camera features. Exciting additions include the Generative Edit and a novel Instant Slow-mo feature, utilizing AI to slow down existing videos—provided they perform as expected. Additionally, the ability to eliminate reflections from images taken through windows adds to the appeal of the camera enhancements.

Display and Screen Size

The overall dimensions of the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra closely resemble those of the previous year, with minor variations of a millimeter here and there. Despite minimal changes to the physical bodies, Samsung has implemented enhancements to improve the display quality.

Notably, the Galaxy S24 series displays boast increased brightness levels, with each phone featuring an advertised peak brightness of 2,600 nits—an impressive advancement compared to the Galaxy S23 series. Even the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which peaked at 1,750 nits, falls short of these remarkable gains.

Samsung has introduced other display modifications to individual phones within the series. Beginning with the Galaxy S24, this model now sports a 6.2-inch flat display. The increase in display size was achieved by reducing bezel dimensions. Other specifications are an FHD+ resolution, an LTPO AMOLED panel, and a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz.

The Galaxy S24 Plus sees a significant upgrade this year, transitioning to a QHD+ resolution, aligning with the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s resolution. In contrast to its previous FHD+ configuration, this enhancement is a notable improvement. Additionally, the display size has been increased by 0.1 inches through bezel reduction, maintaining a flat panel, LTPO AMOLED type, and a 1-120Hz refresh rate.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra features a flat display. Eliminating curves is expected to facilitate gesture navigation, although the trade-off involves more pronounced bezels on the sides.

Beyond the shift to a flat panel, other specifications for the Galaxy S24 Ultra remain consistent: QHD+ resolution, a 1-120Hz refresh rate, and a 6.8-inch display. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covers the displays of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus. At the same time, the Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts a new Corning product called Gorilla Glass Armor, though details on its strength and features are currently unavailable.

Build, Design, and Colors

The phones continue to exude premium build quality, a hallmark of these flagship devices. The tactile feel, especially notable in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, reinforces its status as a high-end smartphone.

Samsung’s commitment to durability is evident, with all models boasting total IP68 water and dust resistance ratings. In terms of glass, the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both front and back, while the Ultra takes it a step further with Gorilla Glass Armor on both sides.

As for color options, the lineup introduces eight new choices: four for the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus and four exclusive to the Ultra. Beginning with the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus, the globally available colors include Amber Yellow, Cobalt Violet, Marble Gray, and Onyx Black. Amber Yellow leans towards a pale hue, while Cobalt Violet is a deep shade. Marble Gray exhibits a very light tone, almost appearing silver or white in specific lighting conditions.

Contrary to its name, Onyx Black is more akin to a dark gray. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra offers similar colors with different names and shades, primarily due to its utilization of a titanium alloy for rails, a first for any Samsung phone. The four colors for the Ultra are Titanium Yellow, Titanium Violet, Titanium Gray, and Titanium Black. Notably, the gray and black models closely resemble their Galaxy S24/Plus counterparts, while Titanium Yellow is darker than Amber Yellow, and Titanium Violet is considerably darker than Cobalt Violet.

Samsung typically provides exclusive color options on Samsung.com, so exploring the official Galaxy S24 listing on Samsung’s website is recommended for additional color choices specific to your region.

 Battery and Charging

As smartphones play an increasingly integral role in our daily lives, the significance of battery life and charging speeds cannot be overstated.

The Galaxy S24 now boasts the most significant battery among standard models since 2021, featuring a 4,000mAh capacity. This enhancement is expected to contribute to prolonged usage on a single charge, especially compared to the Galaxy S22, which housed a comparatively smaller 3,700mAh cell.

Moving on to the Galaxy S24 Plus, it now holds the record for the largest battery in a Plus model, standing at 4,900mAh.

It’s worth noting that opting for the higher resolution QHD+ display might result in less significant gains in battery life compared to using the FHD+ setting.

As for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, there is no change in battery capacity, maintaining the same 5,000mAh cell as its Ultra predecessors.

In terms of wired charging speeds, there are no changes. The Galaxy S24 charges with a cable at 25W, while the Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra charge at 45W with a cable. A compatible PPS-PD charger is required to achieve these speeds, as one is not included in the phone’s box.

Finally, wireless charging across all three phones reaches a maximum of 15W, and reverse wireless charging peaks at 5W. These improvements contribute to a more efficient and reliable charging experience for the Galaxy S24 series.

In the United States, the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus are equipped with the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. However, in certain regions, such as the U.K., these phones will be furnished with the Exynos 2400.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for the Galaxy chipset. This particular chip boasts enhanced AI processing capabilities courtesy of the built-in Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Drawing from the precedent set last year, it is anticipated that this chip could also contribute to an overall performance boost.

This year, performance improvement is expected, mainly since the Galaxy S24 Plus and Ultra models discontinued the 8GB RAM option.

Samsung assures users that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will deliver a more potent CPU, GPU, and NPU with increased efficiency, leading to extended battery life. Additionally, the phone maker claims an expectation of “unparalleled gaming performance,” promising smoother gameplay, heightened performance, improved lighting and shadows, and enhanced ray tracing.

The S Pen

Like its two preceding Ultra models, the Galaxy S24 Ultra includes an S Pen and a designated slot for convenient storage. The design of the S Pen remains unaltered.

Regarding features, Samsung isn’t introducing any new functionalities. However, it highlights the advantage of the Ultra’s display, suggesting that it should enhance the usability of the S Pen. This point prompts curiosity about the initial choice of a curved display. Nevertheless, users can anticipate a consistent S Pen experience.
